Testimony heard in the Martin case in Montgomery County
Some movement has been made in the Montgomery County case, according to Judici’s record of Thursday’s case. Martin would appear remotely with representation from Public Defender Erin Mattson. A preliminary hearing with a sworn testimony presentation from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department deputy Jeff Roach would take place. Following the testimony, Judge Don Sheafor, Jr. would find that there was probable cause. Additionally, a fine assessment waiver would receive approval. However, the case is pending a jury trial. Therefore, another pretrial hearing is on the books for November 13 at 11 a.m. Martin is facing charges of identity theft and practicing as an advanced practice registered nurse without a license. A breakdown of those charges, fines, and potential jail time under a conviction was presented in a previous story. Martin’s Montgomery County case is on Judici under case number 2020CF102.Upcoming hearings for Martin
Martin will appear in Morgan County court on Wednesday, Oct. 7. This case is in relation to a forgery case. Allegations on file state that Martin had involvement in forging documents to purchase a car from a Jacksonville car dealership under false pretenses in an April 2019 incident. Currently, she has representation from Public Defender Tom Piper.Outstanding Out-Of-State Warrants
We’re continuing to investigate the outstanding warrants from North Carolina and South Carolina. A previous report states the North Carolina warrant is linked to Mecklenburg County for the procurement of goods under false pretenses. However, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department did not return a response to any inquiries for information on this active warrant as of press time. We are still working to discover where the active South Carolina warrant is. The warrant, similarly, is also for the procurement of goods under false pretenses. However, as of press time, we did not receive any responses to our requests for information. Regardless, we will update you as more information becomes available. For more local and Illinois state news, follow Jake Leonard @JakeLeonardWPMD, Ben Cox @Cox4Liberty and Heartland Newsfeed @HLNF_Bulletin on Twitter.
