HILLSBORO — The Montgomery County office for Illinois Extension conducted its annual yield survey of the area corn crops. The survey data gathered resulted in an estimated county-wide average yield of 209.4 bushels per acre, which is up from last year’s average of 206.6 bushels per acre. PANA -- The Pana City Council heard a plea to stop installing a solar project at 7th and Grant streets during its August 10 meeting. NOKOMIS — Authorities found no explosive devices after investigating a report of possible explosives at an abandoned home in Nokomis. The home, located on S. Union Street, was near Shane Cole Memorial Park in Nokomis.
