CAHOKIA HEIGHTS -- Multiple people, including a firefighter, were injured Saturday in a three-vehicle crash involving a Cahokia Heights fire truck on Illinois Route 3. The crash occurred at about 1:10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 3 and East Fifth Street, according to the Cahokia Heights Fire Department. Extreme Heat Warning in effect for SW Illinois, Metro-East, Eastern Missouri

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Madison County and much of the St. Louis region. The warning takes effect at noon Sunday, August 9, and remains in place until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12. Forecasters expect heat index values as high as 109 degrees. The warning covers Madison, St. Clair, Monroe, Clinton, Washington and Randolph counties in Illinois. It also includes St. Louis and several surrounding counties in Missouri. Westbound I-64 in East St. Louis closes beginning August 14

EAST ST. LOUIS – The Illinois Department of Transportation will fully close westbound Interstate 64 between I-255 and 18th Street in St. Clair County beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, weather permitting. IDOT would announce this in a press release on Friday. During the closure, westbound I-64 will be undergoing bridge repairs. Additionally, the Illinois 111 westbound access ramps will remain closed. CASEYVILLE – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday intermittent lane closures on Illinois Route 157. The lane closures on Route 157 will be from Collinsville Road to Millstadt Road in St. Clair County. The closures will begin, weather permitting, at 7 a.m. Monday, August 10, for pavement patching. EDWARDSVILLE -- A Granite City man will spent 25 years in prison after admitting in Madison County Circuit Court that he committed child sex offenses involving an underage girl and fathered a child with her. Eli L. Winters, 26, pleaded guilty Tuesday, July 28, to child sexual abuse material and criminal sexual abuse.
