CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Voters in Champaign County will soon decide on a ballot measure on November 5 that seeks to double the existing public safety sales tax. The tax, currently set at 0.25%, under the countywide ballot initiative would double the existing tax to 0.50%. This would increase the tax for every $100 spent in the county from $0.25 to $0.50. SAVOY — Prairie Fields Park in Savoy will host three teams for the Annual Savoy Beep Baseball Tournament on Saturday, July 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hosted by the National Beep Baseball Association and supported by the local Lions clubs, the tournament is an adaptive version of baseball for the blind, low-vision, and legally blind. CHARLESTON -- The Walmart Supercenter stores in Charleston and Urbana will soon be renovated as part of a large-scale rebranding initiative by the company. Rantoul upstart studio recipient of Illinois Soundstage film grant

RANTOUL -- A Champaign County-based upstart film studio was a recipient of a grant from the State of Illinois oriented toward film production last month. A press release on February 28 revealed that Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced $10 million in grant funding for local film studio infrastructure projects.
