Akil Watts scores first MLS goal as CITY SC falls to Portland Heartland Newsfeed
Heartland Media Group of Central Illinois & Eastern Missouri (aka Heartland Media Group CILEMO) is the owner of Heartland Newsfeed, Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network, Heartland Newsfeed Podcast Network, and other lines of business in the media industry.
The company was founded in 2023 by owner Jake Leonard to combine efforts in the media accomplished since 2016.
Heartland Media Group of Central Illinois & Eastern Missouri’s corporate headquarters is based in Nokomis, Illinois, with a second headquarters for all Missouri operations to be established by 2030.
Heartland Newsfeed was founded on December 31, 2016 combining passions for journalism and information technology. It was launched with the initiative that the news be reported without the toxic influences that the mainstream media espouses and the excessive political theater involved with some alternative media outlets.
That initiative has not changed as the digital publication focuses more closely on local news in central and southern Illinois as well as eastern Missouri, in addition to national, world, and other news features, such as sports.
This media platform would serve as the foundation for what is now known as Heartland Media Group of Central Illinois & Eastern Missouri.
Heartland Newsfeed features hard-hitting investigative reporting, in-depth political coverage, timely behind-the-scenes sports analysis, and insightful entertainment and cultural coverage.
We strive to maintain a commitment to transparency and deliver groundbreaking news that no local or mainstream platform provides.
We continuously work to have a diverse staff, which we hope to see come to full fruition by 2030.
Heartland Newsfeed is a consortium of former print and/or digital newspapers including Arena SportsNet Chicago, Champaign-Urbana Courier, The Daily American News, Illinois Intelligencer, ISNet America, Metro-East Journal, Murphysboro American, The Illinois Report, Sideline Sports Media, Mattoon Messenger, 365 News Daily, Baseball News Portal, and Financial News Minute.
We are looking to acquire digital media outlets as time passes, and as appropriate, print media outlets in Illinois and Missouri.

On December 31, 2018, Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network would launch.
The launch surrounded the relaunch and rebranding of WWPM MediaNet, which operated from 2010 to 2013.
Compared to its 2010-2013 predecessor, it would revert from a variety station that played music to being a news and sports talk station, featuring programming from the Liberty Radio Network and Sports Byline USA Radio Network. The network has since added programming from SportsGrid Radio and from self-syndicated podcasts and radio programs.
In May 2024, a radio project that has been planned since 2016 would finally come to fruition via Revolution Radio.
Revolution Radio is a Christian variety station that plays a wide array of Christian music genres (CCM, Christian Rock, Christian Metal, Christian Rap, Christian Hip-Hop, etc).
The station currently features programming such as 20: The Countdown Magazine, The MAD Christian Radio Show, and Whip of Cords Radio.
In November 2024, a special seasonal broadcast radio project was developed for broadcast initially for the 2024 Snowkomis celebration. The radio project: Home for the Holidays Radio.
Following praise and compliments of the station, the project will continue for the 2025 holiday season (and beyond!)
The seasonal station starts broadcasting on November 1 of each holiday season and will play your favorite music until New Year’s Day.
The station also features special programming such as holiday episodes of classic radio programs.
In March 2020, Heartland Newsfeed Podcast Network was launched.
At the beginning, the podcast network featured programming that allowed us to republish their content, many of which are still available today.
As of June 2025, over 10,000 episodes of various podcasts have been published, totaling more than 8.5 million listens.
The hosting platform that hosts the podcast network also hosts archives from the Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network, as well as news features and audio from municipal and governmental meetings.
