DECATUR -- An 18-year-old accused in the January shooting death of his father will remain in custody. This comes after a judge denied pretrial release, according to court documentation. Zachariah Wikoff, 46, was shot and killed January 18 near East Wood Street and South Maffit Street. Illinois shoppers will get a break on clothing, footwear and school supplies for 10 days this summer as the state’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday returns from Aug. 7 through Aug. 16, 2026. Illinois Sports Hall of Fame coming in 2028

SPRINGFIELD -- A letter of intent was signed last week at Scheels Sports Park at Legacy Pointe to build the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame. The facility will be built on roughly four to six acres of the facility grounds. There is a target for a grand opening in the summer of 2028.
