Hillsboro to oil, chip streets next week

HILLSBORO — The City of Hillsboro Street Department will oil and chip a large number of streets across town from Tuesday, August 11, through Thursday, August 13. Work will take place throughout each day. Consequentially, drivers should plan alternate routes if these roads are part of their regular commute.

Streets scheduled for oil-and-chip: A-L

Crews plan to work on the following streets and segments:

  • Angle – From the south end to East Cypress.
  • Berry Hill – From Westwood to the north end.
  • Broadway – From the south end to East Osage; from East Osage to East Cypress; and from East Cypress to East Willow.
  • Center – From Patterson to Hillside.
  • Country – From the south end to Seymour.
  • East Cypress – From Vandalia to Summit; from Summit to Broadway; and from Broadway to Angle.
  • East Osage – From Vandalia to Summit; and from Summit to Broadway.
  • East Willow – From Vandalia to Summit; and from Summit to Illinois Route 127.
  • Edgewood Dr. – From Kinkead to the cul-de-sac.
  • Greenbriar – From Westwood to the north end.
  • Hillside – From the west end to West; from West to Center; and from Center to Main.
  • Huber – From Vandalia to Johnson; and from Johnson to Illinois Route 127.
  • Ida – From Vandalia to Johnson; and from Johnson to Illinois Route 127.
  • Industrial Park Dr. – From School to Smith Road.
  • Johnson – From Kinkead to Huber; and from Huber to Ida.
  • Keller – From the west end to Seymour.
  • Kimball – From Westwood to Seymour.
  • Kinkead – From the west end to Seymour; from Seymour to Old Oaks; from Old Oaks to Main; from Main to Vandalia; from Vandalia to Summit; from Summit to Johnson; and from Johnson to Illinois Route 127.

  • Main – From Kinkead to Patterson; and from Patterson to Hillside.
  • Meadowbrook – From Kimball to Smoketree; and from Smoketree to Westwood.
  • Oakbrook – From the south end to Old Oaks.
  • Old Oaks – From Oakbrook to Kinkead.
  • Patterson – From the west end to West; from West to Center; and from Center to Main.
  • Pence – From Seymour to the east end.
  • Seymour – From the west end to the cul-de-sac; from the cul-de-sac to Kinkead; from Kinkead to Pence; from Pence to Yount; and from Yount to Yale.
  • Smoketree – From the south end to Meadowbrook.
  • Summit – From East Peach to East Osage; from East Osage to East Cypress; from East Cypress to East Willow; and from East Willow to Kinkead.
  • Vandalia St. – From East Osage to East Cypress; from East Cypress to East Willow; from East Willow to Kinkead; and from Kinkead to Ida.
  • Westwood – From Kimball to Meadowbrook; from Meadowbrook to Greenbriar; and from Greenbriar to Fairground.
  • Whippoorwill – From the west end to Westwood.
  • Yale – From Seymour to University; from University to Columbia; and from Columbia to the east end.
  • Yount – From Seymour to the east end.

Travel advice for residents

Drivers should expect temporary lane closures and loose gravel on the listed streets while oil-and-chip work is underway. In addition, the city encourages residents to use alternate routes. Furthermore, motorists should allow extra travel time if these roadways are part of their daily travel.
