An Assumption woman is deceased as a result of a structure fire on the 100 block of North Locust Street. On Tuesday, September 21 at 1 p.m., Christian/Shelby 911 received a call regarding heavy smoke and flames from what was discovered to be 112 North Locust Street. Arrest was a result of Attorney General investigation

BRIGHTON -- Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has announced an arrest of a Macoupin County man on child pornography charges. 38-year-old Robert C. Owens of Brighton faces charges in Macoupin County Circuit Court with five counts of possession of child pornography. Each charge, a Class 2 felony, is punishable by up to three to seven years in prison. Owens’ bond is currently at $75,000.
