Nokomis approves COVID-19 grant payments

NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis City Council would approve $1,000 payments to seven of eight business applicants to the city's grant program. The program, directed at businesses struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was available for a short period of time. The approval of these payments would take place at the regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 14. There was no naming of businesses receiving the grant monies. Illinois early deer hunting numbers up region-wide

SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois hunters have harvested just over 47,000 deer during the first weekend of firearm season. This first weekend was from Nov. 20-22. The overall total of 47,147 falls just over 3,000 short of the 2019 mark of 50,173. These figures come from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
