Quick hits on the RedbirdsJunior guard Josiah Strong was the first awardee for Newcomer of the Week. This award was announced last week by the Missouri Valley Conference. The Redbird team (1-1) for this season has the seventh-highest height average in program history. The average among the 15 members on the team is 6 feet, 5.80 inches. There are no seniors on the squad this season. This marks the seventh time in program history where a squad had no seniors. Illinois State is among ten NCAA Division I schools with no seniors on their roster. With only four juniors on the squad, it is still a relatively young team. Most of the squad are either freshmen or sophomores.
