Rauner announces re-election bid for Illinois governor

CHICAGO (Heartland Newsfeed) -- Illinois governor Bruce Rauner made his re-election intentions official Monday morning. The Republican announced in a video message that he is seeking a second term. In his video, he vows to continue his fight against what he calls "corrupt career politicians". So far, no Republicans have come forward to challenge Rauner in the March primary.  There are seven Democratic candidates vying for the nomination at this point.

HILLSBORO (Heartland Newsfeed) -- Four fire departments in Montgomery County have responded to a combined total of 61 fire calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by Heartland Newsfeed. The Coffeen Fire Protection District responded to six calls, comprising of three structure fires and two other fires. Included in the total is one false call. Montgomery County EMA held volunteer search and rescue training
