BLOOMINGTON — Darren Yorke, general manager of the Chicago Wolves and assistant GM of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced Tuesday that the Hurricanes have reassigned defenseman Bryce Montgomery from the Wolves to the Bison.
The 21-year-old skated in two games this past weekend with the Wolves, registering one show and a -1 rating.
Montgomery scored the first goal in the Bison’s franchise history on October 20 against the Toledo Walleye, his lone point in two appearances.
Last season, Montgomery tallied four goals and eight assists in 42 appearances for the South Carolina Stingrays.
The Washington D.C. native played 84 games in the OHL with the London Knights, posting two goals, six assists, and 70 penalty minutes. Following that, he skated in 48 games with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, scoring six and netting 11 assists.
The 6’5″, 231-pound defenseman was drafted by the Hurricanes 170th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The announcement of Montgomery’s return comes as the team announced earlier in the day that forward Blake McLaughlin was recalled from a loan to Bloomington by the New York Rangers and will return to duty for the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Bison returns to action before a home crowd on Friday night, November 8 inside Grossinger Motors Arena against the Kalamazoo Wings. The game starts at 7 p.m.
