BLOOMINGTON — Blake McLaughlin has only been wearing a Bison jersey for just over two weeks, but his tenure in Bloomington is done, for now.

The forward is heading back to the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack according to an announcement made by New York Rangers Assistant GM and Hartford GM Ryan Martin Tuesday. He was loaned to Bloomington on October 14. In his four appearances with the Bison, McLaughlin collected three assists.

He spent half the 2023-24 season between the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers. In his 21 appearances with the Oilers, he scored 11 goals and netted 14 assists for a total of 25 points. He would also net four assists in the club’s four games in the Kelly Cup Playoff. The 5’11”, 161-pound native of Grand Rapids, Minn. recorded two assists in 29 appearances with the Gulls.

In three professional seasons, McLaughlin has appeared in 60 AHL games with the Gulls, scoring one goal and two assists. In the ECHL, he recorded 25 goals and netted 34 assists in his tenure with the Oilers.

The University of Minnesota alum appeared in 142 collegiate games, scoring 38 goals and netting 67 assists. He was instrumental in the team earning a Big Ten Championship in 2021 and finishing as regular season champions in the 2021-22 campaign.

McLaughlin was drafted 79th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

The Bison returns to action Friday night, November 8 at home inside Grossinger Motors Arena against the Kalamazoo Wings. The game starts at 7 p.m.
