NOKOMIS — The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce held its bimonthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 12 at Demi’s Diner. In attendance were Judy Rupert, Loren Compton, Judy Beaman, Steve Johnson, Dr. Scott Doerr, Krystal West, Barb Easterday, Jo Ann Keele, Jake Leonard and Roger Blankenship.
Blankenship submitted the minutes for the November 10, 2022 meeting with one correction for the January 2023 meeting date. The minutes with the singular amendment were approved unanimously.
Compton presented in the treasurer’s report an available balance of $2,411.57. He would report that the fruit sale did net a profit of $637.25. It was split 50/50 with the FFA program at Nokomis High School. The Chamber’s cut was $318.62.
A brief discussion was held about expanding the venues of communication with Chamber members as well as prospective members. Leonard inquired about the current Facebook page for the Chamber. Upon discovery, the page was an unofficial page for the Chamber. Whoever was the manager of the page has not been maintaining it for some time. Beaman and Keele would respectively motion and second a motion to authorize Leonard to establish an official Facebook page for the Chamber. The motion would receive unanimous approval.
The Nokomis spring city-wide rummage sales will be on Friday, Apr. 21 and Saturday, Apr. 22. Rupert and Beaman will pass on those dates to coordinators of the spring sale at the St. Louis Parish Center.
