Camren’s Causes donates $9K for Nokomis pickleball courts

NOKOMIS -- We're in mid-November, but the Christmas-giving spirit doesn't necessarily have to stop charitable works to improve the Nokomis community from happening. Christmas is coming early for the Nokomis Memorial Park District, courtesy of a $9,000 donation from Camren's Causes, a charitable organization founded in memory of the late Camren Neisler. NOKOMIS -- A downtown Nokomis business recently celebrated its grand opening, with a ribbon cutting to kick off the event. The ribbon cutting, arranged by the Nokomis Chamber of Commerce, was held Friday afternoon, December 1 at 3:45 p.m. The business, Sunny and Red's, opened in mid-March in the former Bell's Jewelry building, although there have been many business ventures in that building since the jewelry store closed. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met Thursday, November 9 at noon for its final meeting of the 2023 calendar year at Demi's Diner. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met at noon on Thursday, September 7 inside the council chambers at the city complex. Secretary Roger Blankenship made an announcement that he is resigning and retiring from the Chamber after 43 years. His resignation and retirement were approved by members in attendance. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met on May 11 at Demi's Diner with a limited agenda. Jim Rupert, representing the Nokomis Public Library, presented a request for $5,000. The funds would help complete several aspects of the new public library. This includes any remaining remodeling and refurbishing, as well as the move itself to the former Masonic Lodge. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met Thursday, September 9 at the Bottomley-Ruffing-Schalk Baseball Museum. Dr. Scott Doerr provided an update on the nickel raffle.
