MATTOON — Lake Land College will host its annual Career Day on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The event will welcome high school juniors and seniors from 25 school districts. Students can network with local professionals and explore career options.

More than 150 career sessions

Students can choose from more than 150 scheduled sessions. Local professionals will lead each session and discuss their careers.

Sessions will cover agriculture, health care, business and information technology. Other topics include cosmetology, the arts, communications, welding and automotive work.

Students can also learn about math, science, engineering and education. Additional sessions will cover criminal justice, human services, psychology, sociology, political science, history, construction and technology.

Career and College Fair

Career Day will also include a Career & College Fair. Students may attend the fair before or after their scheduled sessions.

College and university representatives from across the country will attend. They will discuss academic programs, transfer options and scholarship opportunities.

Local businesses will also have representatives at the fair. Students can learn about apprenticeships, internships and other career opportunities.

Representatives from every branch of the military will be available. They can discuss military careers and service options.

“There’s no better way to learn about possible career paths than by hearing the insights and perspectives of the people who work in those jobs every day,” said Peighton Hinote, coordinator for student communication and initiatives.

“This event is always a perfect opportunity for students to receive everything they need all in one place as they begin to make their future plans,” Hinote said.

Registration and contact information

Colleges, universities and local organizations may register to present at Career Day or host a fair table. Registration closes Friday, Oct. 2.

Organizations can register through the Lake Land College Career Day website.

High school juniors and seniors who want to attend can contact Hinote at (217) 234-5230 or [email protected].
