NOKOMIS -- Severe thunderstorms and straight-line winds made for a rough evening earlier this week. The storms struck the panhandle and eastern regions of Montgomery County on Sunday, leaving considerable damage in their wake. On the receiving end of the biggest impact from the storm was Nokomis Junior/Senior High School. Wind damage from the tornado resulted in several pieces of sheet metal roofing flying around. Three arrested on burglary charges

VIRGINIA -- Three individuals are currently in custody at the Cass County Jail on suspicion of burglary. According to our media partners at WLDS and existing court records, Aaron Morath of Chambersburg was arrested by Cass County Deputy Adam DeMaree. Also arrested at the scene were Kristan Vidak and Nellie Knous, both of Meredosia. The arrests were made following a traffic stop on Wednesday. QUINCY -- The Quincy School Board is extending its search for a new superintendent by two weeks. The board wants to match candidate expectations with the district’s priorities. Board members held second-round interviews in January, then continued talks with the finalists. DECATUR -- A vacant house suffered severe damage as a result of an early morning fire Sunday in Decatur. The Decatur Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 1628 E. Hickory Street at 4:41 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the house and fire venting through the roof and several windows.
