NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis City Council heard a downtown revitalization plan for a commercial building during its most recent meeting on Monday, March 9. It was among two other major items for discussion in the meeting. The council heard a proposal from AmeriCorps volunteer Audra Elam on projects she, in partnership with the Newkomis non-profit, has been working on. NOKOMIS -- Preparations are well underway for some events held during the annual Nokomis Homecoming. The Homecoming pageant to crown its 2025 royalty kicks off the opening festivities on July 11. The annual pageant will crown its Little Miss, Little Mister, Junior Miss, and Miss Nokomis. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Farmer’s Market will be moving to a new venue for the 2025 growing seasons, as well as being under new management through the Newkomis community organization. NOKOMIS -- The Greater Nokomis Chamber of Commerce held a quick meeting in its final meeting as an organization on Wednesday, March 12 inside the Nokomis CUSD #22 unit office at Nokomis High School. NOKOMIS -- The Greater Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met for its monthly meeting on November 12 at Aumann Auctions. Minutes for the October meeting were approved via a motion from Becki Stolte. The treasurer's report reflects an available balance of $16,506.90, which the increase is due to the sponsorship money received for the MAPPING program. NOKOMIS -- We're in mid-November, but the Christmas-giving spirit doesn't necessarily have to stop charitable works to improve the Nokomis community from happening. Christmas is coming early for the Nokomis Memorial Park District, courtesy of a $9,000 donation from Camren's Causes, a charitable organization founded in memory of the late Camren Neisler.
