NOKOMIS — Preparations are well underway for some events held during the annual Nokomis Homecoming.

The Homecoming pageant to crown its 2025 royalty kicks off the opening festivities on July 11. The annual pageant will crown its Little Miss, Little Mister, Junior Miss, and Miss Nokomis.

The age brackets for each category are: Little Miss/Little Mister ages 5-8, Junior Miss ages 9-12, Miss ages 15-21.

Entrants should submit a photo suitable for publication in the newspaper. Those photos can be submitted via email to pageant coordinator Caitlin Spencer at [email protected] or through the Nokomis Homecoming Pageant page on Facebook. The photo should include the contestant’s name, age, sponsor, and the names of parents or legal guardians.

Forms will be handed out the evening of the first practice on June 30 on the south stage at the park at 6 p.m.

A sponsor fee of $25 is due for each contestant by July 7.

Questions and additional information are available by contacting Spencer at (217) 561-1983.

Homecoming Parade

The Nokomis Homecoming Parade will be on Saturday, July 12 at 6 p.m.

The theme for the parade is “Stars, Stripes, and Small Town Nights,” which was chosen by Newkomis.

Parade participation is encouraged, as the Nokomis Homecoming Association has increased the prizes for floats.

Tractor show

The Nokomis FFA chapter will once again be hosting its annual tractor show. The show will be on Sunday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the north side of the park.

More information on the event is available by contacting faculty advisor Mason Fesser at [email protected].

Car show

The annual car show continues under new management, with Newkomis taking over the event from the now-defunct Greater Nokomis Chamber of Commerce.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. with judging starting at 3:30 p.m.

There is an entry fee of $15 for the event.

Additional information is available by emailing [email protected].
