Two arrested in Nokomis drug bust

NOKOMIS -- A Nokomis woman and a Hillsboro man are in jail following a drug bust at a local business. Following an investigation stemming from an investigation, Nokomis Police served a search warrant on Wednesday, June 28. The warrant was serviced at Front Street Pub, 124 W. Front St. During the search, at least 100 grams of methamphetamine were found on the premises. Barbara Krager, 55, of Nokomis, was arrested on location. Macon County corrections officer in jail

DECATUR -- A corrections officer in Macon County is now on the other side of the bars following an arrest. Adam Goodbrake of Decatur is in jail on a preliminary charge of "unlawful delivery of firearms to a felon," according to Sheriff Jim Root. Goodbrake, 25, faces accusations of illegally storing weapons for a felon he met who was in incarceration at the jail. Canadian wildfires cause Illinois air quality issues

SHELBYVILLE -- The National Weather Service in St. Louis and Lincoln issued air quality warnings earlier this week for most of Central Illinois. The air quality issues are in relation to the ongoing wildfires in Canada in which the smoke was blown south across most of the Midwestern and New England states. NOKOMIS -- A long-time business is no more after being in Nokomis for over a century. Ronchetti Distributing shuttered its operations on Friday in both Nokomis and Mattoon as the result of a sale. Ronchetti Distributing was established in Benld in 1906 by coal miners Felix and John Ronchetti.
