Nokomis library operating under summer hours

NOKOMIS -- Patrons of the Nokomis Township Public Library have noticed that they are now operating under summer hours. The transition, which went into effect Monday, will now have the library open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. HILLSBORO -- Excavators can be seen on the site of a large sinkhole on Wednesday afternoon, April 24, on the property of Arlen and Pat Kasten, located on Illinois 185 between Coffeen and Hillsboro. NOKOMIS -- A power outage in Nokomis Friday night currently has Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network offline at this time. The outage, which occurred just before 9 p.m. local time, resulted in just over 700 households impacted during its downtime. Ameren Illinois crews responded to the scene rather quickly, as service was restored at around 9:17 p.m., earlier than their projected restoration time of 10 p.m. The presumed cause of the outage was damage caused by an animal. HILLSBORO -- Commuters may need to seek alternate routes as a sinkhole along Illinois Route 185 between Hillsboro and Coffeen has resulted in it closing indefinitely.
