NOKOMIS — The Dollar General store in Nokomis will be closing temporarily this fall for a remodeling project.

The remodel was referenced to on Facebook by store manager Laura Cushing on Saturday, August 3.

An inquiry for additional information through the Dollar General corporate public relations team was returned on Sunday, August 7 with limited details, but did confirm the remodeling plans.

“Dollar General plans to remodel its current traditional DG location at 415 N. Spruce St. next month to the Company’s DG Market format,” the Dollar General Public Relations team responded. “In addition to the general merchandise and produce assortment Nokomis customers currently trust DG to provide the new DG Market store will offer expanded produce, refrigerated and frozen food offerings, dairy products and more, in addition to an assortment of fresh meats.”

The DG Market store format is among five other store layout formats outside of the flagship layout for all standard Dollar General Stores.

An official date was not provided in the statement, but sources close to the project are estimating sometime in September, which could include expanding the existing building structure to the north, which will result in some reduced parking spaces.

The DG corporate public relations said they would be able to provide additional information on the project’s specifics as they get closer to the store’s temporary closure.
