Former Catholic priest named in Springfield lawsuit

SPRINGFIELD -- The Diocese of Springfield is facing a new lawsuit alleging that a former priest sexually abused an altar boy at St. Mary’s Catholic School and Parish in Taylorville. The suit, filed in Sangamon County Circuit Court names Father John O’Connell and says the abuse happened repeatedly between 1991 and 1994. Illinois Sports Hall of Fame coming in 2028

SPRINGFIELD -- A letter of intent was signed last week at Scheels Sports Park at Legacy Pointe to build the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame. The facility will be built on roughly four to six acres of the facility grounds. There is a target for a grand opening in the summer of 2028.
