Montgomery County under tornado watch

Montgomery County is under a TORNADO WATCH until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Tornado Watch 262 was issued at 11:55 a.m. from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK.

Among the counties in Illinois mentioned in the alert are Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Jackson, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Perry, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington.

Severe thunderstorms are likely this afternoon across parts of east-central and southeastern Missouri as well as southwestern and south-central Illinois.

There is a chance of very large hail over two inches in diameter, damaging wind gusts above 80 MPH, and a few tornadoes are possible.

Storm spotter activation may be necessary this afternoon and early this evening.
