Rix Quinn’s Minute Story: Back to school

Yes, it’s that special time when boys and girls wave goodbye to the family, wait for the bus, then travel to meet a new instructor. Sadly, I once boarded the wrong bus and ended up at a senior citizens' basketball tournament. But that's another story. On the plus side, a new school term allows students to get reacquainted with old classmates and find out if the cafeteria still serves “mystery meat,” then guess what reptile it comes from. On the […]

Louisiana, New Orleans Saints nearing long term deal while subsidizing stadium renovations

BATON ROUGE, La. (The Center Square) -- Louisiana officials are close to finalizing a deal with the New Orleans Saints that would keep the team in place for another 30 years, Gov. John Bel Edwards said Monday. “I feel really good that we’re going to work this out,” he said, shortly after visiting a Saints practice. The deal would represent a 15-year commitment, with the structure in place for an additional 15 years, Edwards said. The arrangement would include an estimated […]

Headless commerce and how it can help boost retail sales

Sometimes, though it may seem paradoxical, the best way to get ahead is to lose one. Yes, we’re looking at the oddly-named headless commerce structure that’s started to pick up popularity in the online retail world. It evidently brings something to the table, or else it wouldn’t have gathered such buzz — so what makes it worthwhile? Here, we’re going to take a look at what headless commerce means, and run through the fundamentals of how it can help a […]

Czeching out top day trips in Prague

Few cities can match Prague's over-the-top romance, evocative Old World charm…or its tourist crowds. To escape the masses and experience more of the real Czech Republic, take a bus or train ride outside of the city to see some of the many worthwhile sights just beyond. My three favorites are a rich medieval town, a sobering concentration camp memorial, and a grand Czech castle. Kutná Hora, a beautifully preserved and down-to-earth town, is just a one-hour direct train ride from […]

FedEx won’t renew Amazon ground-delivery contract

MEMPHIS/SEATTLE (UPI) -- FedEx said Wednesday that it will not be renewing its ground-delivery contract with Amazon after it expires in August. "This change is consistent with our strategy to focus on the broader e-commerce market," FedEx said in an emailed statement to Business Insider. The courier company has been working to increase its delivery network through e-commerce and the company said it is "extraordinarily" well-positioned to shift its focus. The announcement comes two months after FedEx said it had […]

Tivoli: still Rome’s great escape two millennia later

When travel dreams take people to Europe, Italy is often their first stop. There's something seductively charming about this country, its people, and la dolce vita. I always feel at home in Italy, whether struggling onto a crowded bus in Rome, navigating the fun chaos of Naples, sipping a cocktail in a Venetian bar, or sitting on the banister of Florence's Ponte Vecchio for a midnight street-music concert. But I also seek escapes from Italy's urban intensity. When I'm visiting Rome, […]
