HILLSBORO -- After months of preliminary procedural standstill, it appears that Robert Tarr will remain in county jail until his trial. CHARLESTON -- The Panthers of Eastern Illinois University are polling dead last in an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll Tuesday. The coaches of the conference are predicting that the Panthers men's basketball squad will perform poorly in conference action in the 2023-24 season. At least five dead after crash, anhydrous leak in Effingham County

TEUTOPOLIS -- At least five people are dead with a section of an Effingham County town being evacuated as a result of a Friday night crash. A news release from the Illinois State Police Saturday morning revealed that a multi-vehicle crash occurred late Friday evening. CHARLESTON -- Eastern Illinois University is suspending all competition for the men's swimming team in the interim while an investigation is underway on hazing allegations. EIU Athletics is investigating "credible" hazing reports presented to head coach Johnathan Jordan. CHARLESTON - Macie Begley's goal in the 73rd minute Thursday lifted SIUE Cougars women's soccer to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Eastern Illinois.
