HILLSBORO -- After months of preliminary procedural standstill, it appears that Robert Tarr will remain in county jail until his trial. Tarr appeared in court Friday alongside legal counsel Daniel Fultz in ongoing deliberations relating to the Thanksgiving Day 2021 shooting in Farmersville. CHARLESTON -- The Panthers of Eastern Illinois University are polling dead last in an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll Tuesday. The coaches of the conference are predicting that the Panthers men's basketball squad will perform poorly in conference action in the 2023-24 season. TEUTOPOLIS -- At least five people are dead with a section of an Effingham County town being evacuated as a result of a Friday night crash. A news release from the Illinois State Police Saturday morning revealed that a multi-vehicle crash occurred late Friday evening. CHARLESTON -- Eastern Illinois University is suspending all competition for the men's swimming team in the interim while an investigation is underway on hazing allegations. EIU Athletics is investigating "credible" hazing reports presented to head coach Johnathan Jordan.
