Joe Buck - July 2026 - The Kilcoyne Conversation
SPRINGFIELD (Heartland Newsfeed) – There were roughly five days suitable for crop fieldwork in Illinois over the past week ending Sunday, April 12, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report. The report was delivered Monday by crop statistician Mark Schleusener.
Across the Land of Lincoln, the average temperature during the week was 53.3 degrees. As a result, this is 4.7 degrees above normal.
Unfortunately, rainfall was 0.45″ below normal. 0.38″ of precipitation was on record for the week.
Moisture supply on topsoil is rating at 6% short, 79% adequate and 15% surplus. Meanwhile, subsoil moisture supply has a 7% short, 78% adequate and 15% surplus rating.
Corn planting and winter wheat harvests are sitting at 1% completion. Moreover, this is down 1% in comparison to the five-year average for corn. However, winter wheat harvesting has the same rate in line with comparisons to 2019 and the five-year average as a result.
Currently, the condition of winter wheat rates at 4% very poor, 6% poor, 29% fair, 42% good and 19% excellent.
