TAYLORVILLE — A Taylorville High School employee has pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine.

Adam Cherry was under investigation after a district employee tipped off the school board that he was using drugs while on duty.

An investigation was performed by Taylorville Police Department. Cherry was arrested during a traffic stop on meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia before entering the school. Prior to the arrest, Cherry was a nighttime custodian.

Cherry plead guilty to the charges Tuesday in Christian County Circuit Court. He would receive a sentence of two years probation. He will also have to pay fines in the amount of $750 plus assessments and fees.

It is not known as of press time whether Cherry will be allowed to return to his job at the high school.
