SHELBYVILLE — Shelby County State’s Attorney Nichole Kroncke announced that on January 3, four
felony charges were filed against John P. Brilley, 40, of Pana.

The charges allege that on December 30, Brilley committed the offenses of aggravated DUI (2 counts, Class 2 and Class 4 Felonies), driving while license revoked (Class 4 Felony), and aggravated fleeing/eluding a peace officer (Class 4 Felony).

The charges further allege that while under the influence of alcohol and with driving privileges revoked, Brilley fled from Deputy Brennon Atkinson while driving on Route 16 and 1600 East Road, Shelby County, at a speed at least 21 miles per hour over the legal speed limit of 55 miles per hour.

The pending charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Brilley’s bail was set at $50,000. The defendant will appear in court on January 31 for a preliminary hearing.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
