SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is reminding motorists that all offices and facilities will not be open on Monday, July 4. The closure is in observance of Independence Day.
Facilities operation a Tuesday through Saturday schedule will not be open on Saturday, July 2. Additionally, facilities operating on a weekday schedule is closed on Monday, July 4. Operations for all facilities will resume on Tuesday, July 5.
Secretary White reminds all Illinois motorists that expiration dates for driver’s licenses, ID cards, and learner’s permits expire on July 31, 2022 due to a previous extension. However, the extension does not apply to commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and CDL learner’s permits.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID deadline to May 3, 2023.
Individuals can also visit the
Secretary of State’s website for online services. These services include checking eligibility to renew their driver’s license online, applying for a duplicate driver’s license, renewing license plate stickers, or locating the nearest Driver Services facility.
