MATTOON — Lake Land College faculty will soon hold their inaugural Math and Science Open House.
The event will allow high school juniors and seniors to learn more about the math and science programs at Lake Land. Among them are chemistry, biology, physics, math, geographic information systems (GIS), and pre-engineering.
Prospective students and parents will receive tours of campus facilities. They will also get a look at the labs to see and experience the state-of-the-art technology and equipment available.
The event consists of four sessions depending on different aspects of the programs available on campus. Planned activities will be based on the biology, chemistry, physics, and GIS disciplines.
“We are fortunate to have labs furnished with up-to-date equipment that go a long way in preparing our students to be successful when they graduate or transfer,” math and science divisional chair Ikemefuna Nwosu said. “Our hope is that when students and their parents or guardians visit the open house, they can get a hands-on perspective of the quality education they will receive at Lake Land College.”
The open house will occur on Friday, Apr. 1 between 10 a.m. and noon.
Additionally, information on the event, including registration, is available on the
Lake Land website.
