For many of us, a big dream is to have perfect skin with no blemishes or imperfections. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with perfect skin. We are always looking for a new skin product or a method to achieve it.

It doesn’t help that we are constantly shown and advertised new skincare products and devices. It’s easy to forget that health and beauty come from within, meaning what you put in your body will manifest outside. Healthy habits can help our skin in the long run, giving us clear skin for life.

Wash your face

Yes, it seems very simple, but washing our face can be the key to clear skin. Just as you are washing your hands to remove bacteria and dirt, it’s the same way for your face. Wash your face when you wake up with a gentle cleanser.

It will wake you and your skin up, making you energized and refreshed. It also creates a clean base for skincare and makeup. Before bed, don’t forget to take off all the makeup, dirt, and pollutants. Going to bed with makeup still on your face will create clogged pores, resulting in pimples. It also ages your skin.

Moisturize and hydrate

When your skin is all clean, it’s time to hydrate it and lock in moisture. Moisturizing is one of the most important parts of any skincare routine. Your skin is the biggest organ and it needs to be hydrated so it can fight off dryness and give you a clear and flawless look.

Dry skin produces more oils to compensate for the lack of moisture, resulting in breakouts. The moisturizer also keeps the skin looking young. Use light moisturizers in the summertime and thicker ones for cold and windy weather.

And don’t forget the biggest moisturizer – water. If your body is well hydrated, your skin will be too.

Check the ingredients

Sometimes it’s inevitable that you will use skin care products, and it’s a must to check ingredients. Many skin care products that seem “natural” or “organic” can have a lot of bad ingredients that will only cause you more harm than good. Some of the very harmful ingredients are parabens and “fragrance”. Under the label “fragrance” many harmful ingredients can be hidden, and the fragrance is generally very drying to the skin.

Choose products that are as transparent in ingredients as possible. And never use an expired product as it can cause problems for your skin.

Focus on your diet

What we eat and drink plays the biggest role in how our body will act and what it will show on your skin. Food can be a big cause for skin conditions, but it can also be the cure. Healthy living and eating will result in clear skin that will stay clear for a long time. Avoid processed and fast food as much as you can. It’s packed with sugar, salt, unhealthy fat, and other ingredients that will cause inflammation and oiliness of your skin, resulting in breakouts. Legumes, grains, fruits, and vegetables are low glycemic foods that will not trigger your skin and create breakouts. High fiber food is also good for your skin, as well as food rich in vitamins A and E. Replace sugary drinks with water.

Consult with your dermatologist

Some skin conditions have to be addressed by a professional, especially if it’s interfering with your daily life. A consultation with a medical dermatology doctor will help address the problem and come up with solutions. Dermatologists specialize in treating skin, hair, nail, and mucous membrane disorders and diseases, and can also address cosmetic issues.

Some medications can cause skin problems, so you need to consult with your doctor and your dermatologist and see if the medications you are using are contributing to your skin problems.

Less stress and more relaxation

Many skin problems are caused by constant or increased stress in our lives. Stress causes our body and brain to be in a constant fight-or-flight state, throwing our body out of balance, thus releasing more hormones that cause acne. This also goes for the lack of sleep.

If you don’t have a good night’s rest, your skin will likely suffer. Try de-stressing activities like sports, yoga, meditation, or any hobby you have. It will help you calm down and also calm down your skin.

Achieving clear skin can seem like a never-ending race, but it all comes down to healthy habits. Intentions and actions become habits and then become part of your life. Choosing healthy habits will become second nature to you and soon you will enjoy your new clear skin for life.
