USDA forecasts increase in soybean acres

The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts that U.S. farmers will plant more soybean acres this crop year with less earmarked for corn and wheat. During the agency’s Agricultural Outlook Forum, USDA economist Jake Vuillemin said the three crops are expected to cover 225.5 million acres, a decrease of 2.3 million, but still above the five-year average. WASHINGTON – Conagra Brands, Inc. is recalling approximately 119,581 pounds of frozen beef products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. SPRINGFIELD -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is increasing the amount of funding available for the Spot Market Hog Pandemic Program (SMHPP). They expect to issue approximately $62.8 million in pandemic assistance payments to hog producers starting this week.
