Microsoft, Activision Blizzard deal on hold

SAN FRANCISCO -- A $69 billion deal by Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard is on hold...for now. According to MarketWatch, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) in San Francisco over regulatory reasons. The approved request, which came from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), was a "maintain the status quo" decision. An evidentiary hearing will be heard next week to determine whether there will be a preliminary injunction approval. With FTC approval, the deal would have […]

Warning signs gamers should seek in Microsoft buying Bethesda in recent deal

What would you do when you have $7.5 billion in your bank account? Would you build an exclusive beach house after acquiring a private island in the Pacific? How about renting out a snowy resort in the Alps so you can hit the slopes with your reliable Giro ski helmet and Burton snowboards? COMMENTARY: OK, we’ll bite. Why doesn’t Bill Gates believe we should take vacations and weekends off?

(Heartland Newsfeed) -- I have been reading a MarketWatch article "Bill Gates doesn’t believe that everyone should take vacations and weekends off" and have read it several times over for the past hour. I have to admit I am a bit confused about the deceptive headline alone. Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates stated during a conference last weekend that "he didn't really believe in vacations" while building his tech giant from the foundation up. He was essentially stating before […]
