BELLEVILLE – Fair St. Clair has announced that Bret Michaels will not be performing on Friday at Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Park after a medical issue forced him to step away from touring for several weeks.
According to fair organizers, Michaels suffered severe kidney pain after a recent show in Spokane, Washington. He was later diagnosed with a complicated obstructing kidney stone requiring surgery.
His physician, Dr. Abby Borhan, said Michaels underwent a successful procedure. However, he has been advised to avoid live performances for three to four weeks while in recovery. Doctors also said his Type 1 diabetes adds to the health risks of performing before a full re-evaluation.
“We wish Bret a full and speedy recovery,” Fair St. Clair organizers said. “While we’re disappointed, he won’t be able to join us this Friday; his health comes first, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding.”
With Michaels unable to perform, the fair has adjusted its entertainment lineup. Goodbye June will now perform Thursday, July 30, alongside Franklin Jonas & the Byzantines and Noah Cyrus in a three-act concert lineup.
Fair officials also said all previously purchased concert tickets for both Thursday and Friday will be refunded. Refund processing estimates are to be within five to ten business days. Guests will still pay regular fair admission at the gate on Thursday to attend the show.
