ASSUMPTION -- The Assumption council meeting Wednesday, Nov. 3 saw the approval of meeting minutes from the October 6 general session and October 12 and 18 special meetings. Nokomis Woman’s Club met at Bremer Sanctuary

NOKOMIS/BUTLER -- The Nokomis Woman’s Club met on October 14 at the Nokomis City Park, then drove to Bremer Sanctuary in Butler, which is the Hickory Hills chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society. Nancy and Bruce Redman, volunteers of the sanctuary, took everyone to the new pavilion and played some barred owl calls to see if they would answer. Nokomis Lions host 51st annual basketball tournament

NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Lions Club sponsored the 51st annual eighth grade Lions basketball tournament last week, which ran from November 1-5 in the Nokomis High School gym. Teams from Nokomis, Vandalia, Pana, Morrisonville, (Taylorville) Vision Way Christian, Hillsboro, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, and Shelbyville would participate in the tournament. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4 at Demi’s Diner. Vice President Judy Rupert presided over the meeting in absence of president Ed Heck.
