Proposed law would make it easier for out of state teachers to work in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD (INN) -- The latest proposal to solve Illinois' teacher shortage could have schools, once again, looking across the state line. Illinois schools need teachers. Every fall, school districts say they can't find enough qualified, licensed teachers to fill their classrooms. The Illinois State Board of Education said the 2017-2018 school year started with about 2,000 open teaching positions across the state. Gov. Bruce Rauner, about a year ago, signed a reciprocity law that will cut some of the red […]

A proposal introduced by state senators Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill), Sam McCann (R-Plainview) and Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) sets aside $16.3 million in the upcoming state budget to help school districts foot the cost of installing fiberoptic cable for high-speed […]

The Healthy Geezer: I’m not able to sleep as well as I used to when I was younger

I have found that I don't sleep as well as I used to when I was younger. How common is this? Many people believe that poor sleep is a normal part of aging, but it is not.  Sleep patterns change as we age, but disturbed sleep and waking up tired every day are not part of normal aging. Seniors need about the same amount of sleep as younger adults—seven to nine hours a night. Unfortunately, many older adults don’t get […]

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Starz is developing The Continental, a Chris Collins-penned drama connected to Keanu Reeves' John Wick film franchise. The possible series would focus on a hotel that serves as a refuge for assassins in a "hyper-real version of Los Angeles."
