FCC approves application for regional broadcaster to expand signal to Moultrie County

TAYLORVILLE (Heartland Newsfeed) — In a press release made available Tuesday, it was determined that regional broadcaster Miller Media Group, based in Taylorville that an application to expand and build a new FM signal for news/talk station WTIM was approved by the Federal Communications Commission.

The new signal at 107.7 FM in Sullivan will cover all of Moultrie County, so that listeners in that region can hear the station’s local news and sports coverage, the always popular Swap Shop program, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, NFL football and NCAA football and basketball games.

Sullivan and Moultrie County’s 107.7 FM signal will join the main signal at 96.1 FM for Taylorville and most communities in Christian and Montgomery counties in addition to 107.5 FM in Shelbyville and most communities in Shelby County. The station broadcasts at 870 AM.

The Miller Media Group, which is also known as Kaskaskia Broadcasting, Inc., operates seven radio stations — WTIM (news/talk), WMKR (classic country), WRAN (oldies), WSVZ (modern country) and Easy Hits 96.5 (easy hits/oldies) in Taylorville and WHOW (news/talk) and WEZC (easy hits/oldies) in Clinton. The group also operates the DeWitt Daily News and Taylorville Daily News websites.

Miller Media Group/Kaskaskia Broadcasting, Inc. previously operated WEIC/WJRM in Charleston from 2003 until taken off the air in January 2014. It also operated a Christian radio station which streamed exclusively on the Taylorville Daily News website.
