NOKOMIS — May is Women’s Health Month and Nokomis Public Library is holding a raffle to help emphasize the importance of mental and emotional health.
National Women’s Health Month is an annual observance led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is a time to emphasize the importance of prioritizing women’s health and well-being, including physical, mental, and emotional health.
“Self-care and pampering can be a key part of health and wellness and we think these items could help lift someone’s morale and brighten their day,” said Library Director Lisa Casterline. “We think it’s a beautiful basket of items and would make a great gift to give to someone or to keep for yourself.”
The basket includes a Scentsy Open Plains wax warmer and a Mint Fields wax, Laura Gellar Starter Baked makeup set, body pouf, wax candle, Bath & Body Works body wash, lotions, body spray, Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath, and a ticket for a free admission to either the Missouri Botanical Garden, Butterfly House, or Shaw Nature Reserve.
The items were donated by the staff of the Nokomis Public Library as well as board members of the Nokomis Township Public Library District. In addition, local business Noko Sugar Rush donated a box of Diablo chocolates.
Tickets are being sold for $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. They can be purchased at the library at 100 N. Spruce St. or by contacting a library trustee.
(Editor’s Note: As of the May 12 trustee meeting, those trustees will be Margie Eisenbarth, Judy Rupert, Gina Brown, Virginia Farmer, and Jake Leonard with two vacancies to fill.)
