TAYLORVILLE — Published court appearances reflect the daily 10:00 a.m. criminal call and do not necessarily account for all felony proceedings heard that day. Cases heard on Monday, Nov. 27 were heard by Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Joshua Morrison, and Circuit Court Judge Brad Paisley heard cases presented on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The following is a consolidated report of cases heard on both days:

Jacob W. Garrett, 23CF111, possession of meth five grams or less, waived preliminary hearing and formal arraignment and pled not guilty. Pre-trial is Jan. 18, 2024.
Thomas J. Sipes. 22CF33, burglary, filed a motion to remove monetary conditions of bail which was denied. The recognizance bond was set at $10,000 and the defendant was released. A pre-trial with a presentation of a possible negotiated settlement was set for Jan. 12, 2024.
Lester G. Ward, 21CF81, possession of meth five grams or less, had pre-trial in a petition to revoke probation continued until Dec. 28, 2023.
Jacob W. Garrett, 23CF111, possession of meth five grams or less had a preliminary hearing, and probable cause was found. The defendant waived formal arraignment and pre-trial is set for Jan. 18, 2024.
Pre-trial for Dylan M. W. Washburn, 22CF72, possession of meth five grams or less, unlawful possession of cannabis/driver, operation of an uninsured vehicle, and no valid registration was continued until Jan. 19, 2024.
Anthony M. Pakovich, 23CF173, two counts of criminal damage to property between $500 and $10,000; driving under the influence; reckless driving; improper lane usage; and transport/carry liquor, had a status hearing and pre-trial release was revoked. A hearing on this status will be held Nov. 28, 2023.
The first appearance in court for Danny M. Taylor, 23CF178, domestic battery resulted in Assistant Public Defender Alyce Grigsby being appointed counsel. A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 26, 2024. The defendant will be released from custody and admonished on several conditions of release.
Alexis A. Whitcomb, 22CF45. (Burglary, Retail theft of less than $300 worth of merchandise; possession of a controlled substance.) The preliminary hearing was held today and probable cause for the charges has been found. The final pretrial will be on January 23, 2024 at 1:15 p.m. with a jury trial scheduled for February 12, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.
Austin L. Mayes, 21CF252, 22CF228, 23CF5. (Two counts for aggravated battery of a peace officer; attempt to disarm a peace officer or corrections employee/ served 214 days in jail with credit for 107, forty-eight months of probation; home invasion causing an injury; two counts of domestic battery and making contact with two previous convictions/ unfit to stand trial.) A status hearing regarding trial fitness was held. The defendant has been declared fit to stand trial. A status hearing for a motion on monetary release will be held on December 1, 2023.
Derik W. Steck, 20CF307, 23CF179. (Two counts for the delivery of five or fewer grams of meth; possession of 100 to 400 grams of meth.) The state was heard on a petition to deny pre-trial release. The hearing has been continued to Nov. 30, 2023.
Bobbie J. Abberley, 22CF237 (Possession of less than five grams of meth.) The negotiated plea hearing was forwarded to December 4, 2023.
Steven M. Frazier, 20CF98. (Aggravated battery of a victim over sixty/ thirty days in jail with credit for thirty. twenty-four months of probation, probation was revoked, the defendant served an additional thirty days in jail with credit for eight served and is serving thirty months of probation; domestic battery with a prior history of similar circumstance/ dismissed by motion of the state.) status hearing on a ptr The state withdrew the petition to revoke probation upon the defendant’s completion of treatment. The defendant has been ordered to comply with probation.
Robin R. Jones, 20CF149. (Delivery of less than five grams of meth/ dismissed by motion of the state; possession of meth in an amount under five grams/ served two days in jail with credit for one. Serving two years of probation with thirty hours of community service.) There was an update regarding treatment and the petition to revoke the probation hearing was set for January 8, 2024
Dennis E. Wilcutt, 23CF42, 23CF164. (Two counts of violating the sex offender registry.) pre-t was continued to December 7, 2023.
