PANA — The Jack Flash truckstop in Pana is nearing completion. Despite the progress, a fall opening seems unlikely as a result of ongoing delays.

While the majority of the project is completed, there are some remaining concrete aprons in the drive that still need pouring.

Pana city officials earlier this year had hoped for a fall opening. However, construction and weather-related delays will push that open date back until closer to the end of this year.

The project is the largest building construction in downtown Pana in decades, covering a city block along U.S. Highway 51 and Illinois Route 16.

Upon opening, it will be the 18th store in the Jack Flash family, owned by parent company Wortman Stores.

No further details were made available on Friday. Requests for comment on the delays from Pana city officials and Jack Flash owner John Wortman were not immediately returned on Saturday. No remarks were received Sunday prior to publication.
