NOKOMISNewkomis volunteers and their families are welcome to attend an event on Saturday being held at the Aumann Tractor Factory in downtown Nokomis.

The event, expressing thanks to all of the organization’s great volunteers for their amazing work to date, will feature a new addition to the Newkomis family.

Audra Elam was recently announced that she would be working as the Community & Economic Fellow, splitting her time between roles within the City of Nokomis and Newkomis.

Newkomis applied for the Peace Corps Fellows program through the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. Nokomis became one of the finalists for her fellowship and was selected as the official selection within the past month.

One of the main reasons Elam chose Nokomis to serve her fellowship was because of how hard Newkomis had been working since the completion of the MAPPING program.

The event coordinators are encouraging attendees to RSVP as soon as possible to determine how many tables they should set up.

This will be a potluck-style meal, so attendees are encouraged to bring a dish. Hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, and paper products will be provided.

The Aumann Tractory Factory is located on the northeast corner of N. Walnut and W. Front streets in downtown Nokomis.

Other Newkomis events this weekend
