Ramsey school board approves raises in substitute pay

RAMSEY — The Ramsey School Board approved increases in pay for substitute teachers during its regular meeting on September 19.

The board approved the raise, which now brings the daily rate for substitute teachers to $130.

Also approved during the meeting were:

• Pending an employment history report and background check, Brenna Hayes was hired as a cheerleading coach for the fifth and sixth grades, and Harold Phillips was hired as the high school boys’ baseball coach for the 2024-25 academic year.
• Pending an employment history report and background check, Valarie Brown was hired as a paraprofessional for the 2024-25 academic year.
• A Family and Medical Leave of Absence request submitted by Andrew Carter was approved.
• The board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, as well as a vehicle lease agreement with said department, for a school resource officer.
• Approval of nine parent volunteers pending a background check.
• Approval of the resignation of Brooke Thull.
