MATTOON — Lake Land College is dedicated to providing quality education at an affordable cost, ensuring that students have access to opportunities for success. However, as the college prepares for the upcoming fiscal year 2025 budget, efforts are underway to maintain the value of a Lake Land College education while balancing financial considerations. These considerations will involve increases in tuition fees.
Under the upcoming changes effective with the 2024-25 academic year, in-district students will see an increase of $3 per credit hour. The in-district rate is $110.50 per credit hour, but with the change, it will be $113.50 per credit hour.
Similar changes will impact students attending from outside the Lake Land College district. Out-of-district students will see tuition fees increase by almost $7 from $237.96 per credit hour to $244.41 per credit hour. Tuition rates for out-of-state students will also experience increases by nearly $12, increasing from $431.36 per credit hour to $443.05 per credit hour.
Despite these adjustments, Lake Land’s tuition rates will remain notably well below the statewide average for in-district and out-of-district levels, thus ensuring affordability compared to other community colleges and the university systems in the Land of Lincoln.
Other fee increases include a $1.50 increase in the activity fee to $4 per credit hour. However, the service and recreation fee will remain unchanged at $29.67 per credit hour. The same applies to the dual credit fee, which will remain at $18.42 per credit hour.
The latest adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to sustain its commitment to deliver excellent education while managing the demanding budgetary needs in operating the community college. Lake Land recognizes the importance of providing students with access to resources and support to aid them along their academic journeys.
Additional tuition rates and fee information can be found via the Lake Land College website or by calling Financial Services at (217) 234-5231.
