LITCHFIELD — Litchfield Health and Rehab Center has opened a new on-premises medical office to treat residents. The office was made possible through medical equipment contributions from Dr. Timothy Ishmael and Dr. Phillip Johnson, the 92-bed skilled nursing facility’s co-medical directors.

This is a new concept for delivering on-site primary care directly to the residents within Litchfield Health and Rehab, according to Jamie Evans, the facility’s CEO and administrator.

The recently completed medical office features a private examination room and a waiting area.

“Our residents love this new in-facility service because it’s similar to visiting a doctor’s office without the hassle and stress of traveling outside the facility,” said Evans. “It provides a familiar physician atmosphere and promotes privacy during their doctor visits. It also offers the proper equipment for physical exams, as needed.”

Dr. Ishmael and Dr. Johnson donated the medical equipment and accessories including an exam table, otoscope, and ophthalmoscope. Both physicians are partners at the Litchfield Family Practice Center in Litchfield and are board-certified in family medicine. Dr. Johnson is also board-certified in hospice/palliative care.

“This new medical office fills a real need, providing high-quality care with a positive doctor-patient experience,” said Evans. “Now with the donation of equipment by Dr. Ishmael and Dr. Johnson, we’ve created a private and professional medical setting that resembles a visit to a doctor’s office.”
