Heights Market in West Frankfort to close its doors

WEST FRANKFORT — After ten years under its current ownership, a historic restaurant in West Frankfort is closing its doors. The owners of the historic Heights Market & Deli broke the news in a Facebook post on January 4.

The restaurant and deli, a longstanding figure along Illinois Route 149, has operated under various names and management throughout the years.

The owners cited rising utility bills, grocery costs, and minimum wage increases as factors to close down the business for good, which they acquired in 2013.

They would continue to express gratitude to their customers.

“Thank you everyone for your support, friendship, and loyalty,” the owners wrote. “We have enjoyed these past ten years, but it is time for us to move on to our next phase in life.”

The future of the building, located at 1720 E Main Street, remains uncertain, with no immediate plans for new businesses to occupy the space. The historic building, which is over 100 years old, is slated to be sold.
