TAYLORVILLE — Published court appearances reflect the daily 10:00 a.m. criminal call and do not necessarily account for all felony proceedings heard that day. Christian County Resident Judge Christopher Hantla from the Fourth Judicial Circuit presided over the following cases, which were heard on November 13, 2023.
Shawn L. Christian, 23CF165. (Criminal sexual abuse, using force.) The first appearance was held today and probable cause was found for the charges. The preliminary hearing and petition to detain was set for December 15, 2023 at 1 p.m.
Kyle D. Brown, 21CF49, 22CF217. (Indecent solicitation of a child on the internet/dismissed by the court; two counts for possession of five or fewer grams of meth/served ninety-eight days in jail with credit for forty-nine days, thirty months of probation; soliciting a sexual act from a person under the age of 18 or someone who is intellectually disabled/ninety-eight days in jail with credit for forty-nine days, thirty months of probation.) A status hearing was scheduled for January 12, 2024.
Anthony M. Pakovich, 23CF173. (Two counts of criminal damage to property in an amount ranging from $500- 10K; driving under the influence; reckless driving; improper traffic lane usage; transport/carry open alcohol as a driver.) During the first appearance, probable cause for the charges was found. A stay-away order was placed on the defendant and conditional release was placed. The defendant denied the public defender service and status on counsel will be held on January 16, 2024.
