SEYMOUR — Excessive heat during this ongoing heat advisory has resulted in a road buckle in unincorporated Champaign County.
Illinois State Police Troop 7 out of Pesotum would issue the alert at 7:37 a.m.
The road buckle would occur along Interstate 72 East near milepost 117.5. This is just east of the Illinois Route 47 exit in unincorporated Champaign County near Seymour.
The buckle, according to Illinois State Police, is in the left lane only. They will continue to monitor the situation to ensure it doesn’t buckle in the right lane.
The statement states that there is currently no impact to the right lane. ISP encourages all drivers to use caution in this area. Special caution is recommended to any two-wheeled vehicles like motorcycles. The Illinois Department of Transportation will be working to fix the road.
