MORGAN COUNTY — An automotive accident early Tuesday morning on U.S. 67 in Morgan County has taken the life of a Greene County woman.
The Illinois State Police reported the accident shortly after 8:15 a.m. Traffic was closed at the intersection of U.S. 67 and Woodson-Winchester Road for several hours before reopening several hours later.
No further information was available in the release. However, initial reports relayed to our media partners at WLDS determine that the accident involved a passenger vehicle and a tandem semi-truck. An official crash reconstruction is not available as of press time.
A report from Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson states that the accident happened at 7:15 a.m. The occupant of the passenger vehicle, 66-year-old Karen S. Crabtree of Roodhouse are pronounced deceased at the scene. Crabtree was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The tandem semi-truck was owned by Pike Seed Company. No information was available regarding the driver.
The accident is under active investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois State Police, and the Morgan County Coroner’s Office. A full accident report is pending and should be available Wednesday.
