CHRISTOPHER (Section618.com) — The CZR Bearcats held off Eldorado in a sloppy, rainy slugfest 20-14 on Senior Night in Christopher.

The Eagles scored on their opening possession, capped off by a 46-yard touchdown run by Brock Cantrell. The Bearcats answered with two touchdown runs from senior Cole Freeman to take a 14-8 lead into halftime. The Eagles tied the game in the third quarter on a 19-yard TD run by Dylan Henshaw. Henshaw finished the game with 99 yards on 16 carries.

CZR finished the scoring with 50 seconds left in the 3rd on Freeman’s third score of the night. He finished with 152 yards on 24 carries.

Eldorado had a chance to tie or potentially take the lead late in the game. The Eagles intercepted the Bearcats’ in the end zone with less than three minutes to play to keep it a one-score game, but their drive stalled at the CZR 40 when Parker Price was sacked on fourth down to seal the Bearcats’ victory.

CZR improves to 3-5 will visit Johnston City to close out the season Friday night. Eldorado falls 1-7 and will host winless Edwards County.

Notes: CZR donated gate receipts to the family of Heath Toothman, the Eldorado senior who died after an accident following the Eagles’ homecoming parade last week. The Bearcat Booster Club matched the amount.
